Taking Body Measurements
Please take all measurements with the help of a trusted
assistant--results will not be accurate otherwise. All
measurements should also be taken without shoes and with
feet pedal-width apart. Centimeters or millimeters are
preferred units for length.
You will need:
- Meter stick
- Tape measure
- large and thin hardcover book or carpenter's square
- A bar about an inch in diameter
- A surface you can sit on that will place your thighs
parallel with the horizon and your lower legs
perpendicular to the horizon
Measure your total height
while standing against a wall.
Measure from the floor to
your sternal notch (the notch
where your collar bones meet).
While seated with your thighs
parallel to the horizon,
measure from the top of your
shoulder to the surface
you're sitting on.
Place a thin hardcover book
firmly in your crotch and
against the wall you're
standing against. Measure
from the top of the book to
your sternal notch.
While the book is still in
your crotch and against the
wall, measure from the top of
the book, to the floor.
While seated with your thighs
parallel to the horizon and
your back against the wall,
measure from the wall to the
end of your knee.
Measure from the pivot-point
at your hip to the
pivot-point at your knee.
With your lower legs
perpendicular to the horizon,
measure from the floor to the
top of your knees.
While holding a bar in your
fist, measure from the bar
center to the center of your
sholder.
While holding your hand as if
to signal a stop, measure
from the back of you hand to
the center of your shoulder.
While holding a bar in your
fist, measure from the bar
center to the center of your
elbow.
And finally, your weight.
